But I sent this to my wife anyway. I think it’s a massively nice price given that I’d let them keep the wheels in exchange for a better price.

I dig it

Seems like a decent price, and you can negotiate it down a bit, too. Bet a bit of boiled linseed oil on the horizontal surfaces will bring back a bit of shine, too.

I’ve never heard of boiled linseed oil being used like that. On the one in a million chance I get it I’ll give it a shot.

Great color combination, and a very nice price. You’d be nuts to pay an extra 750 for those rims. I’d rather have the steelies and find some correct 61 Impala wheel covers.
A billion years ago, I almost bought a 62 4 door hardtop with the same drivetrain (oddly in Dayton too). Decided it was just too slow and ended up with a big Olds instead ( 394 FTW).
DO IT!

I’m definitely trying, but it’s just not a great time. I desperately want some sort of a project though, and this is right in my wheelhouse.

Its an old shady used car dealer trick, brings back a gloss on faded/worn lacquer paint. Doesn’t last forever, of course, but can be renewed easily enough.

I know that feeling all too well. Good luck!

Quick before someone makes it a lowrider and paints it like a carnival ride!

Should I be offended because I’d also be interested if it had a bitchin low rider mural?

And you can use the leftovers to lace your own wire wheels.

Nice project! Throw a turbo on that six and you would be right on trend.

If there’s one phrase often used in reference to me it’s on trend. Oh wait...

There are a couple guys in my union with Impala lowriders like that, they weigh a ton and they break all the time. He snapped his frame once.

Given that 61 is one of the x frame years it would be a bad choice for anything that puts extra stress on the frame.

Well those two guys are not geniuses, they don’t do the work themselves and pretty much care more about the paint etc... One of them is green like this.
